Job Description

The Director of Finance has direct responsibility for overseeing global financial operations, driving strategic planning, and managing a hands-on FP&A team including accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, legal, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance with private and institutional financing. With a proven track record in SaaS environments, this role will oversee both B2C and B2B models and must be comfortable navigating the dynamic nature of a high-growth SaaS company.

The Director of Finance oversees the global financial operations and budgets of the organization and shares responsibility for the financial performance. By analyzing and developing financial plans and processes the position helps implement overall business strategy.   The Director of Finance also implements best practices, controls and protocols regarding purchasing and spend, the acquisition and implementation of processes for billing and accounting software for reduction of inefficiencies and increased accuracy. The Director of Finance r is responsible for reporting findings and working with the executive staff, board, and stockholders to make financial decisions in the best interest of the company. This often involves regular financial reviews and delivering accurate financial reports, executing sales reports, and developing and giving presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy and Leadership:

    • Develop and execute financial strategies to support short-term and long-term business goals.
    • Act as a strategic partner to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations to drive growth and efficiency.
    • Maintain banking relationships, debit and equity financing, liquidity aspect and other treasury functions.
    • Maintaining investor relations and partnership compliance, ESOP, option grants and Cap Table management.
  • FP&A Oversight and Execution:

    • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company objectives.
    • Perform hands-on FP&A tasks, including detailed financial modeling and scenario planning.
    • Provide actionable insights into financial performance and opportunities for optimization.
  • SaaS Metrics and Reporting:

    • Monitor and analyze key SaaS metrics such as ARR, CAC, LTV, churn, and NRR to inform decision-making.
    • Create and present detailed financial reports for stakeholders, including investors and leadership.
  • Compliance and Systems:

    • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and best practices.
    • Optimize and maintain financial systems, leveraging tools like Maxio to streamline operations.
    • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors
    • Compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to. requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
    • Ensure the organization complies with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
    • Prepare, review, and file accurate tax returns, including corporate income tax, payroll tax, sales tax, and other applicable filings.
  • Team Management:

    • Manage, mentor, and grow the finance and contract teams, including remote and cross-functional collaboration.

    • Ensure effective communication and alignment between finance and other departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a SaaS environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both B2C and B2B financial operations and metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with financial planning and analysis, including P&L management and forecasting.
  • Proficiency with financial tools and platforms, particularly Maxio (formerly SaaSOptics), Quickbooks, Stripe, Anrok, Google Suite, Excel, and ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop talent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
