Design Manager - Housing Developments Location: North East Salary: £70k-£75k Contract: Permanent The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design and coordination of large-scale housing developments across the North East. In this role, you will take ownership of the entire design process, from initial concept through to project handover. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, ensuring all technical and design requirements are met to deliver outstanding residential schemes. Key Duties: Design Leadership: Oversee and manage all design activities, ensuring they adhere to housing regulations and meet client specifications. Technical Expertise: Provide in-depth technical insight to develop innovative and practical design solutions aligned with project objectives. Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors to maintain seamless communication and alignment throughout the project. Project Execution: Drive the timely delivery of design milestones, maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and budget control. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all design documentation is accurate, up to date, and compliant with industry regulations. Value Optimisation: Identify opportunities to enhance design efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising quality. Team Mentoring: Support and guide junior design staff, promoting a collaborative and high-performing team culture. What You'll Bring: Proven track record in design management, specifically within the housing or residential construction sector. Strong leadership capabilities, with experience motivating and managing teams. Comprehensive knowledge of UK building regulations and residential design standards. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Sharp problem-solving abilities, able to overcome design challenges efficiently. Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring all design elements are accurate and compliant. Proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
