Design Engineer Manager

Full Time Role

Salary + plus relocation,

Location :: Wichita, Kansas.

Must have aerospace experience

PURPOSE AND PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completing engineering projects within the engineering department. Assists with strategic planning, product design, quality assurance, and problem resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Plans and formulates the engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.
  • Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects, such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans, and product testing.
  • Reviews product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and testing problems.
  • Develops and directs procedures and methods to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Recommends methods, materials, and layouts for improvement based on manufacturing needs and capabilities.
  • Builds, develops, and manages an engineering team capable of carrying out necessary engineering initiatives.
  • Manages product design from conception to execution.
  • Manages and maintains the current bill of materials (BOM).
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Ensures current and accurate costing; manages the engineering budget.
  • Some travel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering and 7 years of experience in leading an engineering team; AutoCAD experience.
  • Strong technical skills in engineering management, quality assurance, and costing.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing environments.
  • Expertise in problem analysis and resolution at both strategic and functional levels.
  • Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong team leadership skills; capable of effectively influencing and motivating others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
