The full-service hospital in Port Arthur, Texas is a 204-bed acute care facility that has earned numerous distinctions for quality including accreditations for chest pain, Stroke, Trauma, Neonatal Intensive Care and Orthopedics. Highlights of the facility include all-private rooms, a state-of-the-art emergency room with a fast-track area for minor illness and injury, a dedicated heart center for cardiac services including electrophysiology, surgical suites with the latest in digital surgical technology, and an obstetrics unit that includes a neonatal intensive care unit for high-risk babies.

The facility houses an Outpatient Center located just next door in the Physicians Office Plaza, offering convenient in-and-out access for patients just steps away from the hospital. The outpatient center offers Cardiac Rehabilitation Services, Wound Care/Hyperbaric Services, Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, and Outpatient Imaging Services.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our Accounting + Finance team. This position is critical to our organization, providing leadership and coordination of our financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring our company's accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. If you are a strategic thinker, with a strong background in financial reporting and healthcare accounting, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and the development of internal control policies and procedures.
2. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
3. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report, financial statements, and monthly financial reports.
4. Develop and manage financial systems and policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
5. Coordinate the delivery of information to external auditors for annual audits.
6. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
7. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
8. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, the introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory actions.
9. Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.
10. Engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the company.
11. Implement operational best practices and oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. An MBA, CPA, or related designation is highly desirable.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably within the healthcare industry.
3. Proven experience in financial reporting, healthcare accounting, and financial management at a leadership level.
4. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
6. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
7. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
8. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
9. Experience in a healthcare organization preferred, with a deep understanding of healthcare finance.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
11. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
