Job Description
CFS is partnering with a dynamic and growing organization to identify a strategic and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer will oversee the financial health and long-term fiscal strategy of the organization and its affiliates. The Chief Financial Officer will play a central role in shaping financial policy, guiding strategic planning, and optimizing the performance of real estate investments.
Chief Financial Officer Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the executive team and managing partners to develop and execute the organization’s strategic financial plan, ensuring alignment with long-term investment goals.
Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis to drive operational and investment efficiency across all entities.
Oversee investor relations, including the development and implementation of robust reporting systems and maintaining strong relationships with financial stakeholders.
Provide financial modeling and analysis to support current and prospective real estate acquisitions, development projects, and asset dispositions.
Ensure effective cash flow planning and secure access to capital as needed to support business operations and growth initiatives.
Partner with leadership on sourcing, negotiating, and securing both debt and equity financing.
Evaluate and improve financial performance across company operations and real estate assets, identifying opportunities for increased ROI.
Review key financial and legal documents, including loan agreements and investment contracts, in connection with project financing and closings.
Work closely with the Controller and Development team to prepare funding requisitions and monitor financial performance of development projects.
Oversee the accounting team, ensuring integrity of financial systems, compliance with internal controls, and adherence to financial policies.
Deliver timely and accurate financial and management reporting to stakeholders, including investors, partners, lenders, and regulatory agencies.
Monitor organizational risk, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure appropriate insurance coverage is in place.
Review and approve all tax filings and coordinate with auditors to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
Chief Financial Officer Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; Master’s degree or CPA designation strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably within real estate or investment-related industries.
Strong understanding of investment structures, including partnership waterfalls and property management accounting.
Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and managing cash and investment portfolios.
Exceptional analytical skills and ability to interpret and present complex financial data to diverse audiences.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence across all levels of the organization.
High degree of emotional intelligence, humility, and collaborative spirit.
Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to process improvement and business growth.
