Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain mutual respect with both suppliers and colleagues.
  • Prepare requests for bids on commodities with long lead times and high costs.
  • Ensure the selection of the best suppliers based on quality, price, on-time delivery, and technical expertise.
  • Select and uphold high-quality supply sources.
  • Evaluate the performance of current and potential suppliers.
  • Inform departments of any changes in raw material parameters that could impact operations.
  • Address and resolve communication issues, manufacturing process challenges, or delivery delays with suppliers.
  • Research and analyze cost data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and profit improvement.
  • Develop strategies for managing raw material inventories, addressing challenges such as product life cycles, artwork changes, and chemical shelf lives.
  • Manage purchase order volumes and inventory turnover in alignment with company’s procurement strategy.
  • Keep thorough and accurate records of all issues and communications related to each purchase order.
  • Expedite or delay purchase orders as necessary to support changes in the production schedule.
  • Align purchases with Make-to-Order and JIT manufacturing strategies.
  • Maintain open communication between the Purchasing department and other areas within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.
  • 4 years of purchasing experience preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cost analysis.
  • ASCM certification desired.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Must be capable of working extra hours if needed.
