The Cleaner Personnel performs routine checks of bus condition and ensures that the buses are prepared for service.

ESSENTI AL FUNCTIONS :

Routine Maintenance

• Cleaning and performing basic maintenance on the exterior of the bus
• Cleaning the interior of the bus in preparation for daily operation
• Pulling and emptying fare boxes
• Alerting supervisor to more complex mechanical problems

Miscellaneous Duties

• Remove trash and snow
• Clean work area and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned to gain experience and knowledge of more complex mechanical and electrical components

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Basic understanding of mechanical equipment.
• Understanding of basic operation requirements of the bus.
• Knowledge of safety procedures.
• Proficiently use appropriate tools and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
• Read and comprehend written materials.
• Write simple work orders.
• Analyzing data or information to resolve problems.
• Decision-making skills.
• Evaluating information against industry standards.
• Learn additional skills on the job to advance toward upper-level position.
• Must be able to perform all of the following physical tasks.
  1. Crawling daily for distances of up to 10 feet.
  2. Standing for intervals of 4 hours or more without rest.
  3. Reaching daily above shoulder height to retrieve, place, or sort objects weighing over 25 lbs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Specific vision abilities required of this job include vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
