Position Objective:
The Buyer/Supervisor's primary responsibility is buying trade books and Bibles from publishers with the ultimate goal of serving our customers, the church, and our authors with excellence. This role will also help lead the store by opening and closing, as needed. This role supports the efforts of the retail and ecommerce channels to achieve the financial goals of the organization and be profitable.
Primary Responsibilities
Order and purchase merchandise that fits the needs of the Baker Book House customer
Maintain an acceptable turn for product purchased
Negotiate prices, discount terms, and shipping rates with suppliers and vendors
Create and maintain good relationships with all vendors
Learn and utilize Parable catalog metrics and marketing initiatives to guide buying decisions
Uphold a high level of product knowledge
Run weekly overstock, and best seller reports, and prepare purchase orders in Book Store Manager
Maintain department inventory with the highest accuracy possible, completing two cycle counts each fiscal year
Sticker, arrange, and display merchandise to promote sales
Execute timely returns and markdowns of product
Coordinate and execute dynamic in-store and virtual events
Assist the store manager in leading the team to deliver customer service excellence including learning the POS system
Be able to open or close the store, as requested by the store manager
Work and collaborate with the ecommerce and marketing teams
Other tasks may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
At least two years of retail experience
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are essential
Strong relational skills, seeking to serve and meet the needs of the store staff and the customers
Ability to manage multiple projects at once
Aptitude as a self-starter
Confident user of Microsoft Products like Outlook, Excel and Word.
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Compensation and Benefits:
