Summary

The Truck Dispatchers primary responsibility is to work directly with our fleet of contracted Owner-Operators to ensure that freight is moved between our Shippers and Trailer Bridge in a safe and efficient manner. As the Truck Dispatcher, you will be responsible for monitoring the driver’s daily delivery activity and the essential functions related to a successful trip. As a part of the Trailer Bridge dispatch team, you will have a starring role in helping us continue to provide exceptional freight solutions to our customers.

Essential Functions

  • Coach our Drivers to help them achieve their weekly mileage goals and to effectively use their Hours of Service maximizing productivity of the fleet.
  • Collaborate with Planner and assign drivers to lanes that best serve both the company and the driver.
  • Discuss each load and the service expectations with every driver on every plan.
  • Work closely with Account Managers, Planners, and Appointment Team to ensure a successful trip.
  • Ensure all Linehaul rates and any accessorial pay items accurate before Payroll is processed.
  • Track Shipment progress and provide feedback through TMS System updates.
  • Record and maintain files of pick-up/delivery information, communications with drivers, truck breakdowns, expenses, and proofs of deliveries.
  • Proactively communicate with drivers and assist with all functions relative to a meaningful Driver-Dispatcher relationship.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by The Director of Truck Operations and the Manager.

Qualifications

  • Spanish and English proficiency required for this role.
  • Basic working knowledge of Full Truckload Logistics. Intermodal or Marine logistics a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Government/Federal rules & regulation for domestic transportation.
  • Systems Knowledge of MS Office products, specifically Excel, a plus.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong ability to negotiate, persuade, motivate, and influence others.
  • 1 year of logistics or transportation experience
