Associate Degree Apprenticeship Program - Underwriting Services - Schaumburg, IL (Summer 2026) Zurich North America’s Apprentice Program offers a two-year paid, benefit-eligible apprenticeship that combines coursework with work rotations at Zurich North America’s Schaumburg headquarters. About the program The General Insurance Apprenticeship Program enables participants to pursue their first-time higher education while gaining experience to launch a career in commercial insurance. In Schaumburg, apprentices will support the Underwriting Services - Processing Team with: Verifying producer appointment and licensing requirements Communicating with members of the underwriting teams and external customers Researching and resolving issues within producer appointment and licensing Regulatory notices preparation and creation Review and preparation of loss run requests Review and preparation of insurance documents and Auto ID Cards validation/preparation Earn & Learn The two-year program combines targeted coursework at Harper Community College in Palatine, Illinois with work rotations at Zurich North America’s Schaumburg headquarters. The ideal candidate is seeking a first-time associate degree and has minimal college credits completed. Apprentices who complete the program will: Work in a paid, benefit-eligible full-time position at Zurich Work 3 days per week and attend school 2 days per week, with compensation for all 40 hours/week EARN a tuition-free Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Insurance (Harper College, Schaumburg IL) Receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship Acquire credentials and skills for today’s marketplace Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Professional work experience not required Must be enrolled and validated as college-ready by Harper Community College Admissions (separate application process that can run concurrently with Zurich's application) Preferred Qualifications 1 or more years of work experience and/or leadership in student activities or voluntary community service Interest in pursuing a career in the insurance industry Ability to balance multiple priorities between work and school deadlines Strong customer service skills Collaboration and problem-solving skills Ability to communicate with impact Self-discipline and focus Attention to detail Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment Intermediate computer skills, specifically Excel Ability to navigate online learning and interactions Compensation and Employment Information Compensation for roles varies by office location, role, skill set, and experience. The proposed hourly rate for this position is $21.16 with a 5% short-term incentive bonus eligibility. This information reflects a nationwide market range and not geographic adjustments.
